Connection Files & Filters

Connection Files

Connection files enable you to search a database from within Endnote. They

are best used with free databases such as university catalogues. The advantage

of connection files is that they make it very easy to import references into your

Endnote library. The disadvantage of using connection files is that they don’t

allow the use of the native interface of a database so you may miss out on

some of the search functions and features of a database. But this doesn’t really

matter with a simple database like a catalogue.

Filters

Filters allow you to import data from files, typically text files, that have been

exported from from a database. Filters are widely available and have the advantage

of allowing the user to use the native search interface of a database.
